FANNY’S FOLLIES’ PRESSED FLOWER ARTIST, CONNIE STUMM, RETURNS FROM WORLD WIDE PRESSED FLOWER GUILD CONFERENCE HELD IN ANAHEIM, CA
Kingston – Fanny’s Follies’ pressed flower artist, Connie Stumm, has just returned from the World Wide Pressed Flower Guild’s Conference which was held in Anaheim, CA. A gathering of national and international pressed flower artists convened to share their talents and knowledge as a show of camaraderie and to spread pressed flower art as a legitimate art form. It was a unique opportunity to bring together professional artists and hobbyists to share the current trends and explore the new directions in which pressed flower art is heading. This conference offered not only exhibitions, classes and demonstrations regarding the latest materials and techniques but also the excitement of competitions that encouraged, challenged and fostered artistic growth. Connie Stumm had the chance to participate with members of the International Pressed Flower Art Society from Japan, the Pressed Flower Guild from the United Kingdom and the Philadelphia Horticultural Society. Stumm attended classes on landscape design, Nature Print, new techniques in framing pressed flower art, calligraphy and pressed flowers and reconstruction of full roses as well as having entered an original piece in the Mini Bouquet competition. So, what’s new on the horizon for Fanny’s Follies’ pressed flower artist, Connie Stumm? Currently, she has two pieces on display at the Seacoast Artist Association’s SPLASH: SUMPTUOUS SUMMER SHOW which is taking place at Exeter’s Old Town Hall Gallery, Front Street across from the Bandstand. Showings will be on the weekends of July 11 & July 20. Fanny’s Follies will also be appearing at the Rockingham Craftsmen Fair, Saturday, August 2nd from 9 – 3 PM at their new location, Stratham Hill Park, Route 33. Coming this fall, Stumm will be offering a class for the Sanborn Adult Enrichment Course Program. The 4-week class is entitled, “Beginning Basics of Pressed Flowers-- This is not your Grandmother’s pressed flowers anymore!” where students will have an opportunity to make three pressed flower items just in time for holiday gift giving. Class size is limited to 12 students. For more information on this class, go to www.sau17.org or call the SAU Office at 642-3688.
